124. Roman Tweezers

Ancient Roman bronze cosmetic tweezers. A single piece of flat bronze modelled into the tweezer shape with a hoop at the end.

Such tweezers would have been used in everyday life for medical or cosmetic purposes and were probably part of a larger cosmetic set. Called vulsella, they were mainly used for depilation, which was fashionable amongst men and women of status throughout the Empire.
